Green Builders Southern Oregon

Building Green In Southern Oregon

We approach every development project with the end goal in mind: creating a new community for future generations. Design and aesthetics are important, but quality building, eco-friendliness, and efficiency are what our customers value most. With a passion for sustainable development, KDA Homes is committed to developing communities that are environmentally conscious and affordable. Goods and services are not sustainable if they aren’t affordable. Likewise, housing is not sustainable if it’s not affordable. Affordability to us means building housing that falls below the median price point. In Ashland, many of our homes are priced as much as 25% below Ashland’s median of $450,000. Coupled with the fact that each of our homes is designed for maximum efficiency, saving our homeowners hundreds of dollars a year in energy costs, buying a KDA Home is affordable both long and short term. Best home builders in Ashland, Oregon We are encouraged by what we are seeing in the sustainable development world and hope to see more developers adopting these practices throughout the region. Climate change is real, wage stagnation is real and the rising cost of living is real. We can’t control any of those factors, but we can take advantage of the resources available today to address these challenges. We take pride in using Green Building practices. Our homes are Earth Advantage and NW Energy Star certified. This certification gives our customers peace of mind knowing that an independent third party has inspected and certified their home to be energy efficient and that it adheres to the necessary guidelines for healthier indoor air, energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and resource efficiency. What this means for our families 👇
  1. A home that is more sustainable and creates a smaller environmental footprint
  2. A healthier living environment
  3. Lower utility bills each month
  4. And a better resale value when it comes time to sell
Green Building makes sense for our planet, our health, and our wallet which has led us to focus on building zero-energy ready (solar), certified Earth Advantage Platinum contemporary homes. It’s the socially responsible thing to do for our planet and appealing to our homeowners. Take a look at some KDA Projects we are currently working on!

The Garden Cottages is an eco-friendly, close-knit community with neighbor-friendly features like covered porches, shared walkways, nicely landscaped common areas, and private fenced yards and patios. Owners share a community-managed electric vehicle, dedicated covered parking (some with trickle-chargers for personal electric vehicles), bio-swale stormwater systems, covered bike parking, pretty mountain views, and a bee-friendly pollinator garden. The first phase of the Kestrel Park addition will include 15 single-family houses and 15 cottages. The second and third phases will have 48 units, including townhouses and cottages. The 15-acre development is located in north-central Ashland near North Mountain Avenue, bordered on the west and south by Bear Creek and on the north by the Meadowbrook Park II addition.

Green areas in the development include preserved wetlands and a small, grassy park space near the cottages. The city plans to build a pedestrian bridge that would allow the Bear Creek Greenway path to cross the creek about 70 yards south of East Nevada Street and continue along the west side of the creek in the green space provided by KDA Homes.

Phillips Corner

This was a unique project for KDA Homes—we partnered with a local family selling their homestead property who wanted a developer who could preserve the historic house and still meet Ashland’s need for higher density affordable housing.  KDA specializes in this type of development, so after almost a year in planning, we arrived at a concept that delivered high-quality residential units and a fully refurbished and updated1909 Craftsman-style home.

We partnered with Adroit Construction, an exceptional residential and commercial builder with over 33 years of local experience to build out Phillips Corner. There are 26 townhomes all together–19 are two-story units with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths ranging from 1,148 square feet to 1,300 square feet. There is one 856 square foot, 2-bedroom walkup above its own double garage. There are also six 2-bedroom, 1-bath townhomes with a 1-bedroom 1-bath accessory dwelling above. You can live in one and rent out the other or rent them both. The 2-bedroom units are 698 square feet and the 1-bedroom units are 498 square feet.
