What Are The Best Restaurants In Ashland Oregon?

When it comes to choosing the best restaurants in Ashland, the options can be a bit overwhelming. With over 100 restaurants within city limits, the food and beverage scene in Ashland is top notch and continues to grow year after year. A stroll through downtown will reveal culinary delights from every corner of the globe, but a true taste of Ashland will require you to wander away from the plaza as well.

Many of Ashland’s restaurants source their ingredients from around the Rogue Valley and with the abundance of farms, creameries, wineries, and breweries in the area you can sample local fare nearly everywhere you go.

Coming from someone who has spent over 25 years living in Ashland, “aside from fast food, you really can’t go wrong when choosing a restaurant in town”. That said, here are a few must-try restaurants in Ashland, Oregon.

Best Indian Food In Ashland

Taj Indian Cuisine

When it comes to Indian food, Ashland does not have many options. Luckily, we have Taj. This is the best Indian food I have ever eaten outside of Asia and the staff always make you feel right at home. Try the buffet and let your taste buds go on a culinary adventure.

Best Italian Food In Ashland

Cucina Biazzi

The outside of this small home converted to a restaurant belies the style, quality of food, service, and ambiance found within. Sit down for a traditional Italian 4 course meal and prepare to be blown away. For the perfect date night, I would suggest ordering a freshly brewed coffee and the house-made tiramisu (sharable portion)

Best Mexcian Food In Ashland

Agave

Best tacos and margaritas in town. A little pricey though.

Best Chinese Food In Ashland

Happy Bowl

More than just Chinese and hands down the best Vietnamese Pho in Southern Oregon, Happy Bowl has something to please just about everyone. Though I usually only order Pho when I go there, Happy Bowl has the best Chinese food in town.

If you’re looking for a true American Chinese restaurant, then you may want to check out Golden Dynasty or Yuan Yuan.

Best Thai Food In Ashland

Tie: Thai Pepper and Tot

Both of these restaurants serve excellent Thai dishes. Thai Pepper serves the finest fusion of Thai and Pan Asian Cuisine in town while Tot serves up SE Asian food made from scratch with local ingredients. Thai Pepper is more on the fine dining side while Tot is more casual and great for take out.

Best Breakfast Spot In Ashland

Tie: Morning Glory, Breadboard, and Brothers

Growing up in Ashland, these were the only three breakfast spots my family would consider. Many Ashlanders consider Morning Glory as the best place for breakfast or brunch in town due to its quality food, friendly staff, and unique setting (the restaurant is an old home from the 1920’s), but usually draws a long wait time for a table. If you can’t get into Morning Glory, Brothers and Breadboard are close by and equally delicious!

Best Lunch Spot For Under $10 In Ashland

Bento East

This restaurant is the epitome of a hole in the wall with just enough room for one or two customers to order at a time. Hands down the best bento and peanut sauce around. Keep in mind that they are a cash-only restaurant.

Best Fine Dining In Ashland

Tie: Coquina and Peerless

Coquina is an upscale restaurant in Ashland’s Railroad District featuring an a la carte menu of local and regional fare sourced right here in the Rogue Valley. Many reviews on Tripadvisor rave that “Coquina’s food is both delicious and imaginative with a beautiful presentation”. The ambiance is cozy and the service is exceptional. Don’t miss this gem on A Street it’s really fabulous.

Just a few blocks away you can dine at in a dramatic ex-warehouse with a lush garden patio serving upscale New American bites & cocktails at Peerless. Perhaps one of the most beautiful restaurants in Ashland, Peerless never disappoints. With a great selection on their menu with something for everyone, this is one restaurant you must try in Ashland.

Best Burger In Ashland

Big Al’s

Nothing fancy at this classic burger joint, but you can always expect a quality burger on your plate when you eat at Big Al’s. The fry sauce is the bomb and the family that owns the place are wonderful!

Best Sandwich In Ashland

Sammich

This restaurant makes some of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I really enjoy the hot pastrami, but every sandwich I’ve ever tried has been amazing. These are not your typical sandwiches and one is all I ever need for lunch. A pricey sandwich, but for the size and quality Sammich never disappoints.

Best Burrito In Ashland

Ruby’s

This is one of the most popular restaurants in town. The food is top notch, especially the breakfast style burritos. There are not a ton of tables, but you can sit outside on the patio and enjoy the sunshine while you sip on a beer from Gil’s next door. Many locals come here to order burritos for take out.

Best Pizza In Ashland

Creekside Pizza

One of the popular local watering holes in town and home to arguably the best slice of pizza depending on who you talk to. Ashland has five pizza joints to choose from, but Creekside is my favorite. They even have a great gluten-free crust.

Best Place To Grab A Drink In Ashland

Brickroom

One of the largest bars in town and a great place for a date. Brickroom serves up some tasty concoctions at the bar and offers a casual, modern-American dining environment with small shareable plates and entrees. They usually have live music on the weekends and attract a fun nighttime crowd.

Honorable Mentions: Best All Around Places To Eat In Ashland

Omars and Ostras Tapas

There are probably enough great restaurants in town to eat somewhere new for every meal for an entire month and this list could go on and on. If you’re still looking for somewhere yummy to try these three honorable mentions are three of my favorite restaurants in town.
